Hamilton Beach 35021 Deep Fryer Review

The Hamilton Beach 35021 Deep Fryer cooks much faster than many of the leading competitors.  With an 8-cup oil capacity this unit enables you to cook with the lid closed to reduce splattering.  You can also lift the basket to drain food while the lid remains closed. This fryer cooks up to 6 cups of French fries or chicken tenders.

Parts

The following parts are included on this deep fryer:

  • Removable oil tank
  • Frying basket with drain bracket
  • Steam vent
  • Removable lid
  • Removable control panel with heating element
  • Lid button
  • Indicator lights let you know when the unit is on and oil has reached frying temperature.

Cleaning

Be sure to remove the control panel from the base before cleaning.  The heating element should never be immersed in water.  Gently wipe it with a soft cloth and hot soapy water.  Wipe excess deposit from the oil tank and clean the outside of the unit with hot, soapy water and a damp cloth.  The inside pot is dishwasher safe. Never immerse the unit in water.  Remove the lid and clean with soapy water.  Make sure to replace the control panel correctly otherwise the unit will not operate.

Safety

Safety features include a magnetic power cord which ensures that the cord will break away if it is pulled by accident.  This will prevent the unit from tipping over or being pulled from the countertop.  The breakaway cord also makes storage easy.  Another safety feature is the cool-touch sides which will not burn your hands if you accidentally touch the sides.

PROS

  • Cool-touch sides
  • Viewing window
  • Adjustable temperature
  • Basket lifts out while lid is closed
  • Fast fry and heat up
  • Easy to assemble and disassemble for cleaning

CONS

  • Power cord is attached with a magnet which may come off
  • There is no oil strainer so this process has to be done manually

VERDICT

The overall verdict for the Hamilton Beach 35021 is that it is an ideal fryer for a small family or individual.  The size of the basket only allows you to cook for a few people at one time.  This fryer is not for whole chicken or turkey. Recommended by HomeCentric.
